FAQs

Q1: What is circularity? At its core—circularity is an approach to how we design, use and recover resources to eliminate waste and keep resources in use for as long as possible. To dive deeper into the circular eocnomy, visit our Circularity Resources page.

Q2: What is Women in Circularity? Women in Circularity® is a platform dedicatted to amplifying leaders advancing the circular economy. Launched by MaryEllen Etienne in March 2021 in honor of International Women's Day, it features profiles of female leaders working across large corporations, women-owned consulting firms, nonprofits, government and beyond—all making meaningful contributions to a more circular world.

Q3: Who is featured in the Women in Circularity profiles? The profiles highlight women from all walks of the sustainability sector—from executives at global companies to grassroots community organizers. Whether they're shaping circular policy, developing innovations that disrupt waste or leading reuse and recycling initiatives, these women represent the full spectrum of voices driving the circular economy forward.

Q4: How can I recommend someone to be featured? MaryEllen welcomes recommendations! If you know a woman doing inspiring work in the circular economy, reach out via the contact form on our website's home page. She maintains a growing "wish list" of future profiles, but is always open to hearing about leaders she may not know about yet.

Q5: How can I stay connected with the Women in Circularity community? There are several ways to stay engaged: join our LinkedIn discussion group (open to all allies) and follow our live panel discussions at conferences across the U.S. — including the Plastics Recycling Conference, NRC's National Recycling Congress, the Zero Waste Forum and more.

Q6: Can I feature or republish a Women in Circularity profile in my publication? Yes, with permission! Women in Circularity® already partners with publishers like Resource Recycling Inc. and is open to additional media partnerships.
